Cynotilapia afra "Jalo Reef" is a popular and colorful species of Mbuna cichlid endemic to Lake Malawi, Africa. They are rock-dwelling fish, often found grazing on algae and small invertebrates from rocky substrates. Males typically display vibrant blue bodies with vertical black bars, while females are more subdued. They are known for their territorial and moderately aggressive nature, especially towards conspecifics and similarly colored fish. A well-structured tank with plenty of rockwork for territories and hiding spots is essential.
