About
The Silver Arowana (Osteoglossum bicirrhosum) is a large South American surface-oriented fish from the Amazon, Rupununi and Oyapock river systems. It is an opportunistic omnivore with a strong predatory tendency, taking fish, insects and other food near the surface. Adults can reach about 90 cm total length and require an exceptionally large, tightly covered aquarium because they are powerful jumpers.
