About

The Compressiceps Cichlid is a unique and sought-after species from Lake Tanganyika, known for its laterally compressed body, allowing it to squeeze into tight rock crevices in search of prey. They are ambush predators with distinctive forehead slopes and large eyes. 'Comps' are generally slow-moving but can be territorial, especially towards conspecifics or similar-looking fish. They are best kept in a species-specific tank or with other robust Tanganyikan cichlids of similar size, provided ample rockwork and caves are available.
