About

The Copadichromis trewavasae 'Lupingu' is a rare, beautiful and active cichlid native to Lake Malawi. Males display vibrant blue coloration, especially during breeding, while females are typically duller. They are known for their 'Utaka' or open-water plankton-feeding behavior in the wild. In an aquarium, they require plenty of open swimming space and should be kept in groups with a good male-to-female ratio to diffuse aggression. They are generally less aggressive than Mbuna cichlids but can still be territorial, especially during spawning.
