Denison Barb

Puntius denisonii

About

The Denison barb, also known as Roseline Shark or Miss Kerala, is a striking, torpedo-shaped freshwater fish native to the clear, fast-flowing rivers and streams of the Western Ghats in India. It features a silver body with a distinctive black line running from the snout to the tail, accented by a vibrant red stripe above it, especially prominent when the fish is healthy and mature. These active, schooling fish are generally peaceful but can be boisterous, making them suitable for larger community aquariums with similarly sized and tempered tank mates. They thrive in well-oxygenated water with plenty of swimming space and appreciate planted areas and smooth rocks for cover.
