About

The Duboisi Cichlid is a striking and active freshwater fish native to Lake Tanganyika. Juveniles feature a deep black body adorned with numerous white or light blue polka dots, which gradually change to a dark blue/black body with a distinct yellow band across the midsection as they mature. They are primarily herbivorous and require a specialized diet high in vegetable matter to prevent digestive issues. Known for their intelligence and complex social behaviors, T. duboisi are best kept in large groups (10+ individuals) in spacious aquariums to help diffuse aggression, which is common among adult males and between different size individuals. They are territorial and can be aggressive towards similar-looking or bottom-dwelling tankmates.
