A brilliant electric-blue aquarium form associated with the Blue Acara lineage. Its exact origin is debated in the hobby, with sources describing selective breeding and/or hybrid ancestry, so it is best treated as an aquarium strain rather than a wild taxon. Generally calmer than many similarly sized cichlids, but pairs become territorial when spawning. Provide open swimming space, cover, robust filtration and similarly sized tankmates.
