The Sciaenochromis fryeri, commonly known as the Electric Blue Hap, is a vibrant and popular African cichlid originating from Lake Malawi. Males display a stunning iridescent blue coloration, especially during breeding, while females are typically more subdued in color, often greyish-brown. They are active, predatory fish that require a spacious aquarium with plenty of rockwork for territories and hiding spots. While they can be housed with other robust Lake Malawi cichlids, males can be territorial and aggressive towards other males or similarly colored fish.
