About

The Thorichthys ellioti, commonly known as Elliot's Cichlid, is a moderately sized and colorful cichlid originating from Central America. It features a striking pattern of red, blue, and black markings, with iridescent scales. While territorial, especially during breeding, it is considered one of the more peaceful Central American cichlids and can be kept in a community tank with robust tankmates of similar size and temperament. They are substrate spawners and appreciate a tank with open swimming areas, sandy substrate, and plenty of hiding spots among rocks and driftwood.
