Magenta Dottyback
Pictichromis porphyrea
About
The Magenta Dottyback, also known as the Orchid Dottyback, is a strikingly beautiful small marine fish with an intense magenta or purple coloration. It is a hardy species but can be territorial and aggressive, particularly towards other Dottybacks or fish of similar size and shape. They are generally considered reef-safe, but caution is advised with very small ornamental shrimp. They are best kept singly in most home aquariums unless the tank is very large and offers plenty of hiding spots.
