About

The Ngara Flametail Peacock is a vibrant and popular species of African cichlid native to Lake Malawi. Males display stunning metallic blue bodies with a prominent orange to red 'flametail' and matching dorsal fin highlights, especially when mature and dominant. Females are typically drabber, often greyish-brown. They are known for their relatively peaceful nature compared to other Lake Malawi cichlids, making them a good choice for a diverse Malawi cichlid tank. They are substrate sifting carnivores, feeding on small invertebrates found in the sand.
