About

The Pictus Catfish is a striking and active freshwater fish known for its silver body adorned with numerous black spots. Native to South America, these catfish are nocturnal and prefer to be kept in groups of three or more, as they are a schooling species. They thrive in tanks with plenty of hiding spots, moderate to strong current, and soft, acidic water conditions. While generally peaceful towards similarly sized tank mates, they are predatory and will consume very small fish that can fit in their mouths. They are best suited for an intermediate aquarist due to their specific schooling needs and tank size requirements.
