About
The Rainbow Shark is a distinctive and active freshwater fish native to Southeast Asian rivers. Known for its torpedo-shaped body and striking red/orange fins, it is a territorial species that can be aggressive towards conspecifics and other bottom-dwelling fish, especially as it matures. It requires ample swimming space and numerous hiding spots among decor. While often sold as juveniles for community tanks, their mature temperament necessitates careful tankmate selection. They are omnivores, primarily feeding on algae, detritus, and small invertebrates.
