About

The Serpae Tetra, commonly but misleadingly known as Serpae Barb, is an active and vibrant schooling fish from South America. Known for its deep red body and distinctive black spot behind the gills, it thrives in well-planted aquariums with plenty of swimming space. Serpae Tetras are known to be fin-nippers, especially if not kept in a sufficiently large school (6 or more) or if tank mates have long, flowing fins. They are best kept with other fast-moving, robust fish.
