About
The Otopharynx lithobates, commonly known as the Sulfurhead Hap, is a popular and striking cichlid from Lake Malawi. Males display a brilliant yellow head and metallic blue body, especially during breeding, while females are more subdued. They are generally less aggressive than Mbuna cichlids but can be territorial, especially males defending breeding sites. They prefer open swimming areas with rocky structures for hiding and breeding.
