About

The Nimbochromis venustus, also known as the Venustus Cichlid or Giraffe Cichlid, is a large and predatory African cichlid native to Lake Malawi. It is highly sought after for its striking coloration, featuring a yellow body adorned with large, irregular dark blotches resembling a giraffe's pattern. Mature males often develop beautiful blue coloration on their faces. These cichlids are ambush predators in the wild, feeding on smaller fish. In an aquarium, they require a spacious tank with plenty of open swimming space and rockwork for territories. They can be aggressive, especially towards smaller or similarly colored fish, and are best kept in a large Malawi cichlid setup with other robust tank mates or in a species-specific tank. A diet rich in protein is essential for their health and vibrant coloration.
