About

The Aulonocara sp. Firefish is a popular and vibrant hybrid cichlid derived from various Aulonocara species, commonly known as Peacock Cichlids. Males display brilliant red/orange coloration, making them a stunning addition to the aquarium. They are native to Lake Malawi in Africa and require specific water parameters to thrive. While generally less aggressive than Mbuna cichlids, males can be territorial and aggressive towards other males or similarly shaped fish. They are best kept in a species-specific tank or with other relatively peaceful Lake Malawi cichlids in a large enough aquarium.
