About

The Aulonocara sp. "Red Ruby" is a stunning and popular freshwater cichlid native to Lake Malawi in Africa. This line-bred variant is known for its intense red coloration, especially in mature males. While generally more peaceful than Mbuna cichlids, they can still be territorial, particularly males towards each other. They thrive in aquariums that mimic their natural rocky habitat with plenty of caves and open swimming areas. Proper tank size and decor are essential to minimize aggression.
